Hardy Society 31 July 2014 (www.hardysociety.org)
The Invitation to perform at the Annual Convention, at the Dorchester United Reform Church, which stemmed from our evensong at Stinsford, was taken as a compliment and we were happy to interrupt our summer break! On the evening itself, perhaps because of multi-functions at the venue, in-house arrangements were confused and confusing - especially at the interval - but our performance was good. Obviously for such a gathering all the readings were Hardy extracts and all the songs were directly cued by the readings. As often happens, I found A Gallery Romance and The Choirmaster's Burial especially poignant as they introduced Mount Ephraim and Cambridge New
The audience was appreciative and we made some new friends.
